Public Lecture: Architecture and the Right to Housing in Toronto
Leilani Farha and Paul Karakusevic with Karen Kubey
Daniels Faculty, University of Toronto | March 21, 2024
This public lecture and panel discussion explored how the right to housing—in Canada and globally—isn’t just a political, legal and economic issue, but also an architectural one. What does the right to housing mean in practice? And how can designers contribute?
Keynote speakers Leilani Farha, housing advocate and former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, and Paul Karakusevic, a London-based leading social housing architect, were joined by Architecture and Housing Justice Lab founding director, Karen Kubey, to discuss these urgent questions and explore promising housing models.
